NoodCoffee is a mobile application conceptualized to elevate the customer experience for the beloved catering coffee cart service in the Chicagoland area. Designed with a sleek and user-friendly interface, the app allows customers to seamlessly browse menus, place and track orders in real time, and earn rewards through a loyalty program. The app is crafted to serve as the perfect bridge for Nood Coffee’s anticipated transition from a catering coffee cart to a full-fledged brick-and-mortar café, ensuring a smooth and enhanced customer journey at every stage.

02. Problem

In the fast-paced coffee market, catering services like Nood Coffee face unique challenges. Customers often experience difficulties with limited access to menu offerings, lengthy wait times, and inconsistent loyalty program integrations. Additionally, competition from well-established coffee chains with robust digital platforms creates the need for a distinctive and tailored app experience. NoodCoffee aims to address these challenges by offering a comprehensive solution for seamless ordering, real-time updates, and personalized rewards, while maintaining a commitment to supporting local businesses.

03. Design Process

The design process for NoodCoffee followed a systematic and research-driven approach, emphasizing user needs and business goals:

  • Competitive Analysis: Studied digital solutions offered by competitors like Starbucks, Dunkin’, and Blue Bottle to identify gaps and opportunities.

  • Target Audience Research: Defined the demographics and preferences of Nood Coffee's core audience to align with their values and habits.

  • Persona Development: Crafted user personas to visualize customer needs and pain points, such as the time-crunched professional.

  • Ideation and Sketching: Explored potential layouts, features, and flows through hand-drawn sketches.

  • Wireframing: Created low-fidelity prototypes to define user flow and interface structure.

  • Prototyping: Developed mid-to-high-fidelity prototypes for usability testing and iterative improvements.

  • Usability Testing: Conducted sessions to evaluate ease of navigation, visual clarity, and feature integration, leading to valuable feedback for refinement.

NoodCoffee’s solution is a thoughtfully designed mobile app that offers:
